About
McInnis Longhorns
Our Story
We purchased our first longhorn in late 2020 and quickly became "hooked". Being new to the industry, we didn't know that there were different families of longhorns until we purchased our first bull. The seller told us when we picked him up that he was straight-butler, and explained to us what that meant. After doing some research, we decided the Butler Bloodline was something worth preserving. Since then, we have turned our focus to raising the highest quality Butler and Butler-Blend longhorns possible.
The Butler Bloodline
Worth Preserving
A longhorn is considered straight butler when it's breeding traces back only to cattle from Milby Butler's private herd. Mr. Butler was one of the first breeders to see the value in horn length, making his cattle unique to their time. Today's Butler breeders still value horn length, but recognize that this is only part of what makes a cow great. If you attend the annual Butler Breeder's Invitational Sale, you will see the focus on overall conformation as well as horn.
